more in a series of exciting posts

I'm going running. I need to re-True my rear bike wheel, that's going to take a few hours. so... I'm going to run...

So, microsoft has a 98% monopoly on software(software in general) and somehow the Government is going to look into google's purchase of doubleclick. What makes me think that Microsoft greased some palms to make this happen.

grrr

I worked for a while today. I was tired then went to sleep for an hour. Now I'm back up........ This sleep thing is ridiculous.....

And this blog being a log of my insomnia is getting lame.

up again

I'm hoping for a few hours of sleep then either hit the trail or get on the bike for a while..... Who knows, but sleep just ain't happening. It's just so ridiculous how much I work out, an hour a day. If not 2 or more. Seven days a week depending on pain. One would think I'd be happy overall with it, but like everything it's not enough.... Well, sometimes best not to reflect.

Great documentary about The nephew of Sigmund Freud. Edward Bernays, and how he used his uncles ideas to promote commercial products. It's because of him that we wonder "What does this Coffee Table represents you as a person?" Also, promoting the idea that you could achieve any form of satisfaction or fulfillment through Commercial Purchases. The most fascinating part was the idea of the tremendous dissatisfaction that comes when that new Car doesn't make you more Virile. At best making you think you are, regardless of the truth of it. In a way it then becomes a catch 22, Your unhappy because you look for happiness in your food, or watch. Then when you don't get it, you go out and do it all over again.... Apparently you got the wrong one.

I've had a chance to see, Peaceful warrior, which was excellent.

It wasn't anywhere as lame as the Promo, I saw when I was tempted to see it in the theater, that promoted it like an AA film.

I feel like crap, continued.

The pain seems to be eleviating, Ibuprofin to the rescue again. I have never been stronger and fitter and healthier. Yet

The last few weeks, I havn't felt worse in 3 years. What I could use is 4 hours of good sleep.

Ugh......

I got a bug up my butt.... Figured I would blow off some steam, have some wings, drink some beer. Get me feeling better.

Well .....
1am upset stomach, headache. Yep, there is a reason I don't do that.

I feel like crap, Top to bottom.

I have some visitors

I've been monitoring visitors, most of them coming from images I've stolen. One of the visits was based on my "Staying Centered" title. I figure I should post, maybe more on the title. Umnnnnnnn......

I may go hunt for a tent later, I'm thinking about doing half the hike to lone peak. I've been lazy for the past few days, trying to recover from what was a rough hike.
This high peak, above the trees is Lone Peak. I should run, but but the late day $3 run off in gold has me wanting doughnuts and beer.

Ok, Wow!!

Well, that was easy. I guess I could organize, but that would go all day.

Ok, Hiking boots....

More coffee, then work

Now that was a Greasy breakfast.

Here comes the list, Aren't you happy to have tuned into the blog today.

  1. Laundry
  2. Clean office
  3. Clean and Lube my hiking boots
  4. Work
  5. Toying with the idea of writing my senator and congressmen about my scathing hate for bringing in "High Tech, Low Wage" employment for American business.

so.......

3:30am... I think it's time for some eggs and bacon, get that coffee going.

This morning I'm leaning against going to southern Utah. I need to shop for a new tent. I need a "To Do" list this morning. Probables for that list are, Laundry, Finish one of my projects, meditate.. Yoga..

first coffee, work my way out.

For some reason I want to blog about what I think about "technical analysis" of stocks. Which at this point I liken to Numerology or Tarot reading.

It's like me to always overestimate people. There are these great technical indicators called moving averages 5, 10, 20, 30 day moving averages. Let me just tell you how amazing these are. They tell you, if the stock is going up or down over the past 5 10 20 or 30 days. and indicate the possibility that you could lose money. Cause when the 5 day crosses the 10 day.... Well you could lose money because it's declining...... I think the fact that I've lost money over the past 5 days.... Well that shows me that I'm on a downward trend. I can do that kind of math in my head, I think.
[SP32-20070520-163749.gif]
Indicated besides the moving averages is a nr7 move... Which indicates a reversal... See, what it indicates is that the price has flattened out which would be a natural transition between advancing and declining. But also, between declining and declining, and advancing and advancing, or Staying flat and staying flat..

OK, coffee eggs bacon. You know whats weird I've been craving cheerios.

Rest Day

Just for those keeping track, I got up at 2:30 am last night. Flipped around in bed for 2-3 hours and actually made it back to sleep. I slept till 10. It was nice. I almost left the house at noon, but then started looking at the two trips I wanted to do this year. The one I haven't mentioned is Lone Peak, a friend wants to do this. So, I signed up, Of course I'm not sure if he will make it.

Then he talked to me about a trip to southern Utah, which..... May be hot and hung over, kind of a trip. There was talk of mountain bikes, but Mine is in disrepair and I'm not putting to much effort into it. It's like spending a ton of money for a once in a life time trip. I would much rather actually strap the pack on and do an overnight trip.... Of course the current GF could go on this trip, she isn't a dirt worshiper, so it just makes the whole thing less fun. Apparently there are a few people going so it could be fun, or horrible.

All of this has put me in that frame of mind that, what I'd like is a dirt worshiping GF, that would be ideal.

Hmmmm...... Fun alone, or take a risk on a group activity. I've met these people several times and there isn't one of them that I like.

Broads fork Take 2

This is a repeat of the hike I did on the other blog.... Only less snow, cause it's may. I got up at 2:30 this morning... I slept in an hour, Yippieee. I laid in bed trying to motivate and finally made coffee at 6am, by 8 I was jacked up enough to hit this trail head, by 9am. Now I'm trying to blog instead of fall asleep at 5pm.

This was about the first 750 vertical feet and about 1 miles in

This is by the bridge that was frozen over in the other pictures.

This is the first look at the peaks I'm after.

This is a little lake that is the last rest before you go for the summit.
The GPS are
40 deg 35' 50.60" N 111 deg 42' 44.85" W
in case you google earth. that hike starts north of those coordinates and it goes up 4k vertical feet.

Coffee. If I never eat MRE omelets again, I'll be a happy man. But I have one more.... I packed way to much stuff up here.

So, I didn't summit. If you look in the center of this picture you can see above the snow line way back, I got up the first pitch then quit, the avalanche danger was sketchy, and some kids decided to run up the center of the funnel right to the perfect trigger point and started throwing snow balls... Well, I let them have their fun. Natural selection, I'm waiting for the news report with the lone survivor "we didn't realize"... ya, you run up, to the top of a slab of snow and start throwing snow balls. I've known some people who were much more careful, and knowledgeable Who still got hit. Big slabs of snow aren't to be played with.
I took a picture from the top of the first pitch, but it didn't take.

Damn Camera phone.

Just a way to personal a note. I sat on a rock slab next to the avalanche zone, where I turned back to go home. Suddenly "I needed to see a man about a horse." if you catch the euphemism, I was 2 hours from the nearest facility, now I do have supplies for this. But it's heads or tails if A-natural is better than a 2 hour hike.... Well, I regretted my decision. I've never had a worse decent. Exhausted, a little dehydrated, and backed up.... Sorry...

Thursday, May 17, 2007

I decided what to do when i'm rich.

I want to follow the adventures step by step through Egypt of Giovanni Battista Belzoni

Early Archaeologist

(which is a euphamisume for tomb raider/treasure hunter)

It may be funner to follow the adventures of Richard Francis Burton though.

So, I'm excited

going to lose 2.5% tomorrow too.... You may ask why would you hang with this "Dog" stock that is plummeting like there is no tomorrow. Well, the Future P/E ratio is 4 and for the current quarter 20. When most the miners are trading at 30.... I'm just saying it's going up.... Assuming there is a Mine.......

Ok, if I can manage to stay up till 10pm... I may manage some sleep... Or i'll get back up at 1am again, 2 or 3 hours of sleep and still be tired.

There went hope

I'm actually rooting for it to fall this afternoon. If it would just die off, Oversell. The pain would be over. But no, just a steady 2.5% decline..... When I hit 25% loss I'm getting drunk. I had some hope yesterday when My declines were less than the sector declines. Fortunately that reversed today. I swear at one point the Fear level will just blow all the sellers away, and we can at least level off......

is it me or does Ben S. Bernanke fed chairman speak like he is giving a 4th grade book report.

"......and then, in the book, Lucy Pevensie Entered the wardrobe. Then she arrived into the land of Narnia. In the land of Narnia she............ Realized that the economy was still strong. Sub prime doesn't seem to be moving into the rest of the financial sectors. Increased commodities appear to be pressuring the rest of the markets into a slight decline."

more gold woes

$653 was the morning low, and currently $657 in gold I'm down 2 more %.

I'm not taking as much a bath as the guy who bought a Warhol for 71 million.

'

Ok, I don't hate Warhol, But for those prices.....

I'd rather have a picaso.

Better yet a Monet.

Warhol is only vaguly interesting to me, There are a ton of unknown artists I'd rather hang in my home.... Ok, maybe I hate warhol. He is heads or tails with that guy who was shoving whips up peoples asses to piss off the republicans. Maybe if somone shoved a whip up Warhol's ass.

not for fans of falwell

I'm not a huge Christopher Hitchens fan, infact I see him more as a narsicistic attention seeking flame thrower. but this made me chuckle a few times, and I'm probably going to hell, But Falwell first

This Insomnia is out of control

Maybe I should watch insomnia... problem it's not a very good movie. The worst part is that it's becoming difficult to get any work done.

Gold is tracking the Euro Price right now $663.25 One may think that gold would just be the price of gold... But no. Gold is traded in U.S. Dollars, .This is where it gets sticky, If the dollar falls against the EURO and\or the POUND then suddenly Gold gets cheaper for our European Cousins. This Increases demand for gold, driving the price up.

Now, Gold also trades almost 24/5(gold doesn't trade on Saturday and most of Sunday). At night it trades in Asia, then in the morning in London, then in new york during the day. So, it seems like the price tracks the Euro, most of the night. Then once London opens it tracks the Pound. What is funny is that sometimes the weaker volume will drive the price up$10 during the night, then when New York Opens, Well. Suddenly the price Dives or Jumps, depending on the mood of the new York market.... But the new york Currency market.....

So, Why do the currency's change... Well the idea is that one country is experienced more inflation than the other. Some people in this country will have you believe that inflation is in control in this country... Regardless of the price of food or Oil... Since they get rid of food and Oil in the inflation numbers.... Seriously... Sure people can't afford to buy anything because oil and food are more expensive, Meaning that they then have to make more money, Which drives the price of goods up..... Etc Etc...

Apparently the rest of the world is growing, and experiencing more inflation than the U.S. Is. Problem is that this makes commodities get more expensive Gold, Steel, Iron, Copper, Nickle, Milk, Corn. This demand makes things here more expensive.... and we get .... Yes Inflation.

But No, we aren't experiencing inflation, it's just that things are more expensive... But that's not inflation because we aren't getting any double digit growth.... Except for gold which is falling

After this, somehow the federal government either raises or lowers the interest rate, to either increase or lower the money supply... I can't even figure out how raising the interest rate will either lower or increase the money supply....

Next up.. Will be the crazy notion that the stock market goes up on bad news because it means that the FED won't raise rates, and may lower them.... so, bad news is good news in "The Market"... I wonder how excited they would be if the Market Crashed.. That would be some Great Bad news.......

So, Have I talked about how it's all just a Shell Game, driven by psychology.... When the Music stops, make sure you have a chair.

interest rate gifts, interest rate gift, interest rate merchandise, gifts for interest rate, gift for interest rate

All this Catch 22 Crap, and subjective economic numbers, give my logical brain a Tumor.

So, a Sports Reporter asked an Infamous Stock investor, "What should the baseball player that just got a 20 million dollar salary put his money in?"

He said, "Buy a Bond, and Get some Sleep"

Bike Riding

Gold went down to $659 today, and I lost another 1.5%

This is mile marker 12 or so on my bike ride today.
This is where running has it on cycling..... as I spend 10 minutes changing a tire.
This is my 10th tube change this year, It's time for some new tires. These have about 5K miles on them.

Next on CNBC

Apparently Wal-mart needs to expand it's market Share in order to get it's stock off it's 3 year stagnant cycle.

Nutball #1 "Well, we think that if they can break into that High End Consumer market.. they can expand their market share and the stock will go up."

Nutball sitting in this chair " I'm thinking they have a better shot going the other way, and all they need to do is start carying Mad Dog 20/20. "

Nutball #1 "I think that may scare off their core consumer of Dopes that don't realize they can get the same thing at better prices, with a better environment, Else-ware"

Nutball in chair, "Touche....... Or not. How if they open a section of the store to Scientists in anthropology and evolution, as well as just interested onlookers, and provide facilities for observation and experimentation, on subjects who have managed to evade "natural selection". Though I am a godless heathen, I do think their existence and ability to Flourish, may provide valuable evidence disproving Darwin, by their ability to Flourish in this environment....... Of course Cockroaches tend to flourish, as well......"

First on CNBC

Man Believes He must still be Asleep as market indicators show inverse reaction to any rational explanation.

Gold Moves to $673 or Up .5% While my gold mining company falls 1%, While other miners go up 1%.

On Morning CPI data inflation moderates, while gold increases and the dollar value falls.(see this means the world believes they should get more of our shit with less of their money or that we should pay more of our money to buy their shit.

Only offered opinion is that less chance of a fed rate hike, has spurred gold investment.

Man believes more likely expectation is that he woke up in bizzaro world this morning....
Maybe it's Evil Star Trek world

.

Yep, I know, have nerd will travel.

*checks for Goatee*

ooohhh, I need to shave.

One of the traders was asked about some of the inconsistancies in the market and he Wisely said "Ummmmmnnnn, Because there are more buyers than sellers."

Danger Cave Jukebox Cave and beyond.

Lucked out this weekend, I had the great opportunity to join Ron Rood of the Utah Division of State History for a Tour of 2 caves in Utah's West desert.

Just to cover some Utah historical geology, the Great Salt Lake used to be a larger lake called Bonneville, at that point some caves were formed under the lake waters.
When the Lake Receded between the Gilbert Level and the Great Salt lake level. The caves were revealed and American Indians lived in and used the caves most likely as a winter home, in their migration, around the Wasatch front.
Danger cave is locked and barred with the exception of some tours for school kids, and a yearly tour in Prehistory week once a year.... Pre history Week was last week. Down below the cave 10K years ago was a marsh which I'm sure Just Teemed with food during the winter, instead of the desert that is there now. I thought I caught a picture of the area where the marsh was, but apparently not. This is just outside of Wendover Utah.
in 1949 Jesse D Jennings excavated some of these sites, putting together some of the history of Utah Indians 10K years ago... sometimes know as the Fremont Indians. This is the definitive work on prehistoric north America(sorry Mormons, your book of crazy Fictional Magic doesn't count).

a lot of that known history which is based on the 11K years of history piled and layered on the floor of this cave.

This is Jukebox cave. Wendover Utah was a major training site for Bomber crews in WWII, and during that time one of the caves was used for dances and Movies for the soldiers. A cement Slab was laid in one of the caves.

This cave not only holds layers of Indian History, but also some charcoal paintings, I wonder if this was how Jennings knew to look for these types of caves in this area.
My favorite thing I saw was this great pull tab from a soda can Circa 1962-(1983?)
Unfortunately this one looks like a late 70's to 80's version. It was disturbed by a fellow tour participant, not knowing it's historical value.

During WWII Bomber gunners trained here. They had a Jeep which ran around this track with a target mounted above it. The track was a lot like a Slot car racer and would run on this track. The berm to the left was used to keep the bullets off the unmanned Jeep.

The berm is to the right in this picture, and outside the Hills the machine gunners would practice shooting at the moving targets which replicated moving German and Japanese fighters as they raced around the tracks.

If your sleep schedual was as messed up as mine.....

Don't get me started about sleep. it's out of control, I'm into 3 hour naps. I have a few blogs to do about my weekend, but it just aint hepnen.

So you ask, who is reading this blog? Well, I built a blog that I didn't give to anyone. Strangely it became like a tree in the forest, if there are no witnesses it's hard to justify the time.... No matter how much I wanted to just speak into the void. I've given this blog out to 3 people, one of whom is my Ex..... Who I think isn't speaking to me because I wouldn't answer the phone for her... I think she doesn't know that I Fucking hate the phone. I made 3 phone calls on Friday, and it took 2 and a half hours, what a waist of my time. Of course no one realizes that I'd rather be watching a movie with them, or hiking, or cycling with them rather than jawing on the phone.... But I digress..... Thanks for reading.

If your interested in what's been going on with me..... I'm all jacked up at the price of gold, if you ever dump money into the stock market, realize that some stocks are strongly, and sometimes insanely linked to commodity prices... So, know that before you invest... Point being I've taken a beating because gold went from $680 to $660.... Ya... This is why I'm not blogging, cause it's not all that interesting, I was in the stock for a week, and now I'm waiting for gold to rally again to $700.... this could take some time......

.....Ok, there is a guy in a documentary, tying a coil aroune his head and thinks it's a time machine... He says the stock market crashes in 2005 and the government has to declare Martial law.... oops I guess he was wrong.

Back to our usual scheduled fun.

This is today's 4am run..... damn it's dark.
This is my Hike up to dog lake.

Snow Line.... Yep slow trudging this day. But I did get up above where anyone else this day had hiked.
Making small fire isn't as easy as the survival guys make it look. This took quite a long time and I had a lighter. Of course that ground is awefully wet.
This whole Mt. Coffee thing kicks ass. nothing like a hot cup of coffee and a warm meal after an hour and a half of Trudging through the snow. Add another hour of just regular hiking.
Ok, back to work.... Seriously this is my third day of taking a Beating in gold miners... It will take 2 days of gains just to get out of the Hole.
