This is a repeat of the hike I did on the other blog.... Only less snow, cause it's may. I got up at 2:30 this morning... I slept in an hour, Yippieee. I laid in bed trying to motivate and finally made coffee at 6am, by 8 I was jacked up enough to hit this trail head, by 9am. Now I'm trying to blog instead of fall asleep at 5pm.
This was about the first 750 vertical feet and about 1 miles in
This is by the bridge that was frozen over in the other pictures.
This is the first look at the peaks I'm after.
This is a little lake that is the last rest before you go for the summit.
The GPS are
40 deg 35' 50.60" N 111 deg 42' 44.85" W
in case you google earth. that hike starts north of those coordinates and it goes up 4k vertical feet.
Coffee. If I never eat MRE omelets again, I'll be a happy man. But I have one more.... I packed way to much stuff up here.
So, I didn't summit. If you look in the center of this picture you can see above the snow line way back, I got up the first pitch then quit, the avalanche danger was sketchy, and some kids decided to run up the center of the funnel right to the perfect trigger point and started throwing snow balls... Well, I let them have their fun. Natural selection, I'm waiting for the news report with the lone survivor "we didn't realize"... ya, you run up, to the top of a slab of snow and start throwing snow balls. I've known some people who were much more careful, and knowledgeable Who still got hit. Big slabs of snow aren't to be played with.I took a picture from the top of the first pitch, but it didn't take.
Damn Camera phone.
Just a way to personal a note. I sat on a rock slab next to the avalanche zone, where I turned back to go home. Suddenly "I needed to see a man about a horse." if you catch the euphemism, I was 2 hours from the nearest facility, now I do have supplies for this. But it's heads or tails if A-natural is better than a 2 hour hike.... Well, I regretted my decision. I've never had a worse decent. Exhausted, a little dehydrated, and backed up.... Sorry...
